FoolMoon is the infrastructure organisers use to manage their private events. FoolMoon does not access, use or sell your data for its own purposes. The organiser who invited you is the data controller under GDPR.
Who collects your data?
The person who invited you — the event organiser — entered your first name and phone number to send you this invitation. FoolMoon is the technical tool they use: a service provider, not a marketing actor.
FoolMoon GmbH acts as a data processor under GDPR for the data associated with your invitations. The organiser is the data controller.
What data is stored?
- Your first name as entered by the organiser
- Your phone number
- Your participation status (invited, confirmed, arrived, withdrawn)
- Timestamps of these actions
- If you activate the networking card (at events that offer it): the details you choose to share, your photo if you add one, the list of attendees you swapped cards with, and a technical cookie linking your phone to your invitation (no tracking)
- If the organiser offers it (weddings): the dietary requirements or allergies you choose to give. Optional; this information can be sensitive and is only shared with the organiser (and their caterer) to plan the meal
- Organiser's contact book: what they attach to your record — your gender if they entered it, or confirmed it after an estimate based on your first name, tags, internal notes, how your record was created (import, form, QR code) — and the history of your attendance at their events (title, date, invitation status, arrival, amount paid, number of SMS received)
No browsing data, no tracking cookies, no advertising profile.
Why is this data used?
- Sending the invitation SMS with your personal link
- Sending you confirmations (spot reserved, payment, withdrawal)
- Enabling check-in at the event entrance via QR code
- Managing referrals if the organiser has enabled them
- Networking card: sending your card to attendees who scan it, sending you theirs and, if the organiser enabled it, a recap SMS of your contacts the next day
- Organiser's contact book: letting them find you again from one event to the next and measure attendance at their events
No other use. FoolMoon does not contact you outside of events to which you have been invited.
Who has access to your data?
- The organiser of your event — for that event; they also see your record and history from one event to the next in their contact book, as do the team accounts attached to that book
- Brevo, Sweego and BulkGate — SMS providers depending on your country, data processors, GDPR-compliant
- Stripe — only if you pay for your spot online, for payment processing
- Google — only if you choose “Add to Google Wallet”: your ticket details (name, seats, event, QR code) are then sent to Google, at your initiative
- Attendees you swap networking cards with — only the details you ticked. The organiser only sees overall statistics, never who met whom
Your data is not sold, rented or shared with third parties for commercial or marketing purposes.
How long is your data retained?
Your data is retained as long as the organiser keeps their FoolMoon account active. The organiser can delete an event or your profile at any time, permanently removing your data from the system. Exception: the history of your attendance, held in the organiser's contact book, is retained for 36 months at most after each event, even if the event is deleted; it is erased at once with your record when the organiser deletes it. You can deactivate the networking card at any time from your invitation page; it is no longer viewable 30 days after the event and is then deleted with it. Details already saved by other attendees on their phones cannot be erased by FoolMoon.
Your rights
Under GDPR (Articles 15–22), you have the following rights:
- Immediate withdrawal: click "remove me from the list" in the SMS or on your invitation page — effective immediately
- Right of access to your data
- Right to rectification
- Right to erasure
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to data portability

Complaints
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. As FoolMoon GmbH is established in Germany, the lead authority is the LfDI Baden-Württemberg. LfDI Baden-Württemberg.
Hosting
foolmoon.app is hosted on a dedicated server in Europe. Data does not leave the European Union, except for exchanges with Stripe, which provides appropriate GDPR safeguards (standard contractual clauses), and for adding your ticket to Google Wallet if you ask for it.
